Video Editor

A Video Editor is responsible for taking raw footage recorded by production teams and assembling it into a seamless, high-quality finished video product. They manipulate film, audio, sound effects, graphics, and color grading to tell a cohesive story that aligns with the creative vision of a project, whether it is a YouTube video, commercial ad, corporate documentary, or cinematic film.

• Footage Management: Organizing, backing up, and ingesting raw video and audio files from camera memory cards into logical project bins.

• Rough Cut Assembly: Reviewing raw footage to select the best takes and cutting them together into a loose timeline sequence (rough cut) based on scripts or brief outlines.

• Sound Design & Mixing: Syncing dialogue tracks, overlaying appropriate background music, and adding sound effects to enhance the immersive quality of the video.

• Visual Enhancement: Applying color correction, transitions, standard animations, subtitles, and blur effects where necessary.

• Revisions & Exporting: Incorporating constructive feedback from directors, clients, or marketing managers and making precise edits before exporting final files into correct formats (e.g., MP4, MOV) and resolutions (e.g., 1080p, 4K).

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree (S1) or Diploma (D3) in Broadcasting, Film/Cinema Studies, Creative Multimedia, Visual Communication Design (DKV), or a related field. However, a strong portfolio/showreel is heavily prioritized over formal degrees.

• Showreel Requirement: A killer video showreel (usually 1–2 minutes long) showcasing their best editing work, pacing abilities, sound design, and visual styling.

• Experience: 1–3 years of experience as a video editor in an agency, media company, or dedicated YouTube channel. Talented fresh graduates with stellar student portfolios are also highly competitive.

• Language: Good technical English is crucial, as almost all professional software interfaces, technical tutorials, and global stock asset libraries are in English.
